Matthew Groner’s Q4, 2024 - In Review
Closing out the year strong!
I want to extend a personal thank you to everyone who signed up for my newsletter. We closed out 2024 swimmingly! This is now my second piece that I am sending, and I am getting the hang of this platform and newsletter. In this quarter’s email, I will highlight the end of 2024 as we begin to prepare for the upcoming year for 2025! Stay tuned, because 2025 will be nothing short of epic.
This Q4, 2024 (October, November, December) was great. During this time I stayed more local to Los Angeles. Events included Luftgekühlt, Southern California Timing Association Speed Trials, and a Los Angeles Lakers Game. Read more about each experience below!
October: Luftgekühlt
In October, Luft 10 returned to SoCal, this time at the Universal Studios Backlot! The last time they held their event at that location was 2019. It was an extraordinary day to see hundreds of air-cooled Porsches at such a legendary location. I’m looking forward to the next Luftgekühlt event! Check out my video here.
November: Southern California Timing Association (SCTA-BNI) Dry Lake Racing

Late this fall, in November, 2024, we took a quick day trip to the El Mirage Dry Lake to check out the Southern California Timing Association Dry Lakebed races! It was our first time out that way, and we were in for a great surprise. We spent much of the day watching the vehicles top 200+ mph on the dry lake bed! It was hot, dusty, but so worth it. I want to return next year to see more cars run. At the end of the day in El Mirage, I challenged myself to film my first interview, and I was successful in speaking with racer Mark Lintner and learned more about his 1968 Chevrolet Corvette. He has been racing since the 90s, and owned the car since the 70s. My interview is worth a watch, so check it out here.
December: Los Angeles Lakers Game

LeBron in action
We had the incredible opportunity to attend the Los Angeles Lakers game on New Years Eve, December 31st 2024. We had some great seats, courtesy of my work! We had a great view of the court, and I was able to get a few cool shots of the players. Ultimately, the Lakers lost against the Cleveland Cavaliers, but they put up a great fight. It was a very nice way to end the evening, and the year! Thank you for tuning in and I will see you in early 2025.
